Best Ever Homemade Tortillas

homemade tortillas for all your CULINARY needs

Serves: 12-16 people

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Cook Time: 20-25 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1-1/3 cup olive oil

  • 1 cup room temperature water

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, add in you flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix your dry ingredients well.

  2. Add the olive oil and half the water to your dry ingredients. Mis with flour well until you achieve a cookie dough-like consistency. Add more water, if needed. This shouldn’t be too sticky at all, if too much water is added you may need to add some flour to balance.

  3. Divide your dough into 12-16 dough balls and set aside to rest for 15 minutes at room temperature.

  4. Heat a skillet to medium-high heat. While the skillet is heating press your dough balls down with a tortilla press or a rolling pin. Then add the pressed dough, one at a time, to the hot skillet and flip after a few minutes. Each side should have a slight crisp.

  5. Once the tortilla is cooked, place it in a tea towel to keep warm while others are getting baked.

  6. ENJOY once cooled down

The dough with rise up and get fluffy during the cook process - trust me its apart of the process.
